User Rating: 9.5 | Red Dead Redemption X360
In 2008, Rockstar released a fantastic game called GTA IV. It was a masterpiece, and when they announced that they were working on a spiritual successor to Red Dead Revolver, everyone knew that it was going to be good, and here we are. In May, Red Dead Redemption was released, and it looked like GTA, only in the Wild West.

I have now played it for a while and I can tell you that this is something that you do not want to miss. The singleplayer shines at almost every single thing that it tries. It might remind you of GTA, but that is not a bad thing. GTA was a fantastic game, but after some polish and some more work you end up with Red Dead Redemption. Because that is what this is. It is a more finished product of GTA. The shooting mechanics have been polished and made a lot easier, the graphics have of course taken a step up, the animation is better… Almost everything is more polished. But even after all this work they still do not manage to get to the same level of perfection as you saw in GTA. It is just not as exciting. One thing I have noticed is that the Voice acting is exceptional in the game. Rob Wiethoff is spot on as the protagonist John Marston, and you meet believable and charming characters throughout the entire game. The singleplayer is almost perfect, and is alone worth buying the game.

You might think that after all the praise I gave to the singleplayer, that it is the only good part of the game. You are wrong. Rockstar has really worked hard on making the multiplayer competitive and exciting. They tried this in GTA as well, but there they didn't quite make it. That has changed. Multiplayer is really fun to play and comes with both competitive modes and a mode called: Free Roam. Competitive modes are… Well, competitive. You have the normal game modes: TDM, FFA and CTF. These are all good, but as I mentioned, you have Free Roam. This is where the multiplayer shines. You create a posse (Gang) and free roam. Rockstar have created goals and missions for you to complete. I have played this a lot with my friends and it is a huge amount of fun, even though it might sound boring. It adds a lot of replay value to the game, and now that a Co-op mission pack is released (Haven't tried it yet) it makes it even better.

Every game has its flaws, and Red Dead Redemption is no exception. At times it may seem that Rockstar had to fill it up with silly characters and side missions that make absolutely no sense at all, just to make the game a little longer. It also has a lot of glitches, but these glitches are not to worry about. Rockstar is working day after day to fix these, and a lot that were there in the beginning are completely gone. The game is as good as everybody tells you. For once the reviewers are correct about the score.

I can recommend this game to anyone, and I hope that you have enjoyed reading my opinion about the game. Don't base your decision on buying the game just on my opinion. You should read what others think.
