If you are into Rockstar games you will like it,
I decided to write a review of my own.
Red Dead Redemption is a game like GTA. Thus said, you either hate it or love or just like it as in my case.
Now, what are these games about?? What kind of gameplay is there to be found??
First and foremost the games are about an open world that you can roam. It's like taking part in a movie or something. When I played GTA III for the first time, I was kinda disappointed, the gameplay was pretty repetitive and bland. But after some time I kinda liked it, I didnt follow the story missions but just drove around liberty city and listened to the radio stations. THat was an awesome atmosphere. Nothing has changed with GTA IV, I still like driving around the city and listening to the radio stations, beforehand I know that mission types will be repetitive, shooting, driving etc. But I like the story, the dialogues, its OK,
The same goes for Red Dead Redemption, nice open world, pretty aweseome graphics with respect to detail. The missions are, well, what you would expect, repetitive, but thats OK,. Challenge?? Its not really there, its even hard to get killed, the aiming system is automatic so no challenge there, pity, cause the shooting is the main aspect of the gameplay, but then its ok, its a game that you can enjoy.
Even though I would prefer something more challenging I still like this kinda game and will definitely be up for a sequel. These are movie kinda games where you really need to be up for the atmosphere and the freedom of movement or navigation.
Of course, If you ask me everything could be better in Red Dead, starting with the story but then take it for what it is and decide if you like it or not and I like it. for sure.
IMHO rockstar provides the best open world games when you think of how bad others are/were. Maybe in a few years time even these get better. I guess its very hard to put awesome gameplay into these, especially when you want to keep as realistic as possible. I mean you have an environment that represents a "world" of its own be it a city as in GTA or a landscape as in RDR. What kind of gameplay can you put into it?? Gameplay that is not repetitive or something, possibilieties are kinda limited etc.
Personally I would have asked for more gameplay in RDR. I mean wouldnt it have been possible to more horseracing into it, with more routes than just two races?? More challenging gameplay when it comes to shooting would have been great as well. A more fleshed out story would have been nice as well. And generally more to do would be great as well.
I hope they bring out more games like these and improve on its shortcomings.
Feel free to comment on my opinion.
