GTA Western Style

User Rating: 7.5 | Red Dead Redemption PS3
I have respect for what this game is and how it's head and shoulders above a GTA. However, it's simply GTA style from square one, but with a western twist. If that's your thing... and you like the western setting... you're set. For people that are not into wild wild west (more dragon age time or fantasy whatever), then this game might not work for you... even though it is a nice game. The setting really sets the mood.

The controls are pure GTA with a horse instead of a car. Graphically enhanced, yet feels and plays that same as GTA. Of course, the game is upgraded in many areas besides graphics... as in depth, atmosphere and detail. Yet, it keeps reminding me of GTA. Again, not that GTA is a bad thing, but you better like the idea of a western spin, otherwise this loses steam quickly.

I would say the game starts kind of slow considering it's controls are so easy to master. It eases you into learning the basics and building on them. Missions can be fun and the level of detail into the story help this game very much.

However, if you do not like western style atmosphere then you will be hard pressed to keep playing... but, if you can abandon the sword or machine gun for a horse and pistol... you'll be at home with this stellar action adventure, open world game.
