The Wilder Side of the West
User Rating: 9.5 | Red Dead Redemption PS3
from the very first couple of missions this felt vaguely familiar to GTA IV, and I thought I was going to be disappointed, but then the game lurches back in to the Old West and all of the familiarity I had expected to brreed contempt evaporated as I was immersed into the honour of duelling, saving women from kidnap and murder and hunting animals as a way of earning the income needed to reach that all important 100%, something I rarely do with games but have stuck to with this one. Whether taking a long ride over the Great Plains searching for that elusive American Standardbred, or heading into Tall Trees to hunt Grizzly's, long after the main story missions are finished I'll be coming back to enjoy the open world I discovered with one of the most engaging characters I have ever come across. Quite simply amazing, and a definite game for a sequel. My only complaint would be that certain aspects of the game are sometimes a little 'buggy', but it's easily forgiven when it provided me with such fun each time I sat down to conquer the West. Red Dead Revolution, we await your confirmation!!
