This is an interesting game from Rockstar. I found it funny that they would release a game like this. I really thought linear games where dead but out comes this game. Its set in the western times and basically you are out for revenge. The corrupt mayor killed your daddy and you are out for blood. The game takes you from board to board as you shoot various people to get to the mayor. Yes I know not much of a plot here. The game play is ok with the various weapons through out the game at your disposal. You have a revolver and a rifle with a throwing weapon also. Thats your arsenal and you get to use it wisely. The game is definately going for the look and feel of the old eastwood spaghetti westerns even down to the main character's look. You also get to play with other characters in the game so you are not stuck with just the main guy. One thing the game does not have is auto targeting. You do that all on your own so when you get into a hairy situation look out. Shots all over the place. Also you have to reload your gun so look for your gun to conveniently run out of bullets right when you need them. The game also adds a draw aspect to it. At various points in the game the action will slow down where you will draw with another person (sometimes even 3). These drawing sessions can be rather difficult and tend to bog down the game. Of course there is a bar fight in the game which is also difficult. The fighters find it very easy to pick you up and throw you even when you are in mid-punch. The hand to hand targetting is horrible. Hit point aspect is shoddy at best making close quarter fights useless. The music is good with the graphics being average. The shooting is nothing special but sometimes it can be annoying just shooting and getting shot. Dodging is really impposible and health packs are few and far between. As most games of this nature there are the points where there are just too many enemies and they overwhelm you. Overall because the game is old now you could probably get it in the bargain bin. Its worth it just for an afternoon of mindless shooting. The game is not very hard and its ok to play.
