Mars let me down...

User Rating: 5 | Red Faction: Guerrilla PC
I'm a hard core PC gamer with a rig than can take almost anything. I was really expecting the PC version of this game with all the great reviews and all. Turned out it's a really bad port...
I'll start with the basics: upon launching the game and entering the main menu I noticed everything was too dark for my taste. I always crank up the brightness in games to see everything clearly. Astonished I was to discover there's no brightness setting in this game - NONE! WHAT??? Can't remember the last time that's happened to me... Ok, no Vsync either - that really sucks. Hate it when frames skip over each other on a 22 inch monitor. Whatever. The game's gotta be good though, I thought...
The graphics are decent, the voice acting's tolerable, the story was of no interest at all from the start. I thought that would change fast...
So, running around blowing up buildings and collecting crap (sorry, scrap) was fun... For about five minutes. Then my bro got shot up (with not a single bullet hole on him though, but whatever).
So I find out I'm Red Faction now. Great. I've got to save Mars from the evil earthlings. Wow. And all my new "friends" are uninvolving, impotent characters who I don't give a crap about and who give even less about me. What am I doing here???
Open world, right? Grabbed a vehicle, tried to drive it, but found it so hard to control that I decided I'm better off on foot. So, where to next? Go blow up a building, again... Got there, decided to poke around first, in came the bad guys and BUMMER, a screen pops up saying I've been discovered, MISSION FAILED. WHAT??? I could've just shot em all to pieces. So that's what I did the second time. Oh yeah, the gunplay sucks, the controls are jittery, no FPS. Whatever.
Got bored, decided to go freelance. But this isn't GTA. There's nothing but rocks and more rocks around, plus a bunch of objects to blow up. But I got bored of doing that a long time ago. And there's no motivation to complete any more missions, because I'm really not enjoying this at all... Sadness, uninstall, cache clean to destroy any trace of Red Faction ever being on my system in the first place...
I spent 10 bucks on this sh!t and I wish I'd never even gotten it for free...
