The sequel that could have been.

User Rating: 6.5 | Red Faction II PS2
I have fond memories of playing Red Faction up until the wee hours of the morning with my cousin, literally blowing the living piss out of everything. We'd tunnel about and explore and create, so of course, when I heard about a sequel, I was super excited.

I got Red Faction II, and I was so let down. It had such potential. The first level let us see that simple machine guns could eliminate the walls, and the enemies were intelligent, but the sheen wore off, and it became another FPS. Where did the GeoMod go? Yes, I could blow up walls, but not like before. I couldn't "burrow" or dig or explore.

The multiplayer mode wasn't nearly as fun. I give it a 6.5 for sheer effort, but it's missing the other 3.5 because of the lack of the same GeoMod experience of the first. It's a decent shooter in its own right, but when you compare it to the first, it falls flat on its face.
