grrreat FPS!

User Rating: 8.8 | Red Faction II GC
Being a true FPS, you can change up all the controls so that they fit your needs. I find an easier learning curve that way. You have your basic shoot, duck, cycle through weapons, reload etc. You also have a whole button designated to let you switch to your grenades and blow your opponent away. There is also a night vision button for those areas where it becomes too dark to see.

You take control of a character named, Alias who is a demolition expert. Chancellor Sopot, used nano-technology to transform thousands of people into super soldiers, Alias was one of them. Sopot later on began to fear them and ordered them to be hunted down and killed by his Elite Guard. Only Alias and a few others survived. Alias joins a squad of six, their job is to hunt down and kill Chancelor Sopot. Your teammates are as follows:

Shrike: Transportation Expert

Tangier: Stealth and Electronics Expert

Repta: Heavy Weapons Expert

Quill: Sniper Expert

Molov: Squad Leader

Alias: Demolitions Expert

When starting up Red Faction 2 there are three different modes: Single Player, Multiplayer and Profiles Each player has to create their own profile. Here is where you can check your stats throughout single and multiplayer modes. In Single Player you control Alias and go through levels using the help of your teammates. Another cool feature that was set up for a few of the beginning levels was the Tutorial Mode. Here little guide boxes show you the ropes and tell you valuable information that you will need further you through the game. Another cool feature in the game is the craft levels. In these levels you get to control a mech, a submarine, a tank or a hovercraft The only major flaw is the gameplay department is the loading times; it automatically saves your game data when you progress to a different part of each level, and some load times are almost a minute and tend to become an annoyance after a while. The single player is tedious yet it can be accomplished over the weekend. To get the whole juiciness out of the game you’ll have to be a fan of multiplayer games.

In multiplayer mode you can play split screen 1-4 player, and have a grand total of four bots. Not much I know, I wish they gave us a couple more to work with. You have your basic multiplayer games such as: Capture the Flag, DeathMatch, Team Deathmatch, Regime, Arena, Team Arena, and Bag Tag. The weapons are pretty sweet, tons of explosives for the hardcore weapons man, then there’s tons of sniper rifles for the sniper guys out there. You have your grenades, basic handguns, rail guns, you name it and most likely it’s here. There are tons of multiplayer levels too. Each one is different; space, in the sewers each one has tons of cool hiding places you can demolish everything in sight. The only multiplayer problem is the lack of bots; every other option is there for you however.
