A bad game all around yet Gamespot gave it an 8.8 WTF

Red Faction is a shooter that has a lot of work ahead of it to become a decent game. You play a mine worker on mars. Mars has become a getaway from earth with promise of a better life and good pay. But it is far from that, living conditions are terrible and the security guards in the complex in which you work treat workers horribly. So why not have a revolution? Well that is what exactly happens. Workers try to take over the complex and flee to earth on ships and playing worker you seem to have the same objective So the story seems pretty straightforward. But with horrible graphics, poor sound and boring gameplay, Red Faction is just a another lackluster game. The characters look like simple polygon people with paper faces. The sound in the game is also a letdown. Guns sound generic and don't seem to capture how much power they have. Like the machine gun should sound fierce and powerful not dull and generic. The gameplay is hard at times since you don't really get any help. You're told to get to an objective but not how, do a lot of the game you have to figure out what to do instead of just having fun shooting enemies. One plus of the game is that the multiplayer is decent and has enough to ofrfer to make it fun. Bots, all the guns and a buddy can make for some time blowing each other up in an arena, or teaming up against the ai bots. I can't recommend this game even though it's only $4. Maybe Red Faction 2 is better or better yet get the fully destructible Red Faction Guerilla. I don't know why Gamespot gave this game a good rating since it's a bad game even for it's time. It's boring, not fun and dull.
