This game took me completely by surprise, purchased as an impulse. now, I have spent years backing up the COD games since its first release, and I've been so stuck on that franchise that i doubted any other game could top it as far as the immersion and game mechanics. That is, until i came across this little gem. this game, in its entirety, is a well thought, well animated, well drawn, completely immersive, and fun FPS. The learning curve, is Extremely shallow, and the way the developers melded the extra game mechanics was completely sublime. The ability to adjust your iron sights to accommodate the IMPRESSIVE ballistics was a huge selling point for me, not to mention the opportunity to effectively flank and work with your teammates on a level that i can only relate to modern swat and insertion forces. the level design is beautiful and crisp. the player models, and gun models are excellent. I'm running WIN XP with a dual core pentium 3.6 ghz processor and a single nividia 8600, and I'm able to run medium graphics settings at 1024x768 or 1440x900 and still have a FPS range between 40 and 75 FPS. as great as the game looks, the minimum specs on this program very Flexible. you dont need a top o' the line rig to enjoy this game.
The hardest Transition i had with learning how to play this game would have to be the movement. it feels sluggish compared to COD, But it works and feels superfluous with the realism in this game. i could almost relate it to arma 2, minus the jaggedness. everything about this game is smooth, i've yet to run into and dealbreakers while playing this.
in summary, Red orchestra 2 has come a long way since its introduction as a TC mod for UT2K3 . its a well Built game, with a magnificent player community. ive played many games and ive never come across a single wall hack, or aimbot. its well worth 60$ [as an average for a popular game] but you can get it for an average of 29.99 as i see on most websites.
