When Resident Evil first came out for Gamecube, many fans (including me) were overjoyed. The game displayed magnificent graphics and realistic detail, I was appalled by the realism portrayed. The environment was awesome if you like creepy sounds, music, and dark/gloomy tones. Now, when Resident Evil 0 came out. I fainted. The graphics were even better than it's predecessor or sequel, or whatever, I was just so amazed, I just couldn't keep myself together. The realism was even more impressive and the real-time cutscenes displayed magnificent quality picture and movie-like experiences. It practically puts you into the game. The sound... my lord, the surround just creeps the hell outta me and it clear and crisp noises are put in there to make it even more interesting, including the syncing of the actions and the sounds (The sound when the character walks on a certain surface, timed for precision.) It is definitely the best of the series so far. The problem I had with ALL resident evil games was the gameplay. The button layout was not good because it confused pause with the Y button and start button with the "go away/come here" action. I was confused and it would waste much time. Controlling the character was fine with me but moving and turning was too slow and a zombie would just crawl up on me. And that turn around action, I'm too lazy to do that. But overall, Resident Evil 0 is one of the best looking games of all GCN titles. It succeeds in many aspects and really puts forth the effort. It really shows Nintendo's potential.
