Resident Evil 2 has been released over various platforms such as the Nintendo 64, Playstation, and Dreamcast. Now the Gamecube finally gets it's own Resident Evil 2 game. Now, a fair warning to everyone who would want to try out Resident Evil 2 for the Gamecube. It is basically a straight out port of the Playstation/N64 version. The graphics have not been improved like the Resident Evil Remake. Everything is the same in terms of gameplay, graphics, sound, etc. If you wanted to buy the game for some extras that you might of thought would of been included to this version, you can quit thinking because this version doesn't include any type of extras. Of course, if you actually played RE2 on the Gamecube, the thing that hurts it the most is it's surely outdated graphics. I believe Capcom didn't have any time to work on the graphics for RE2 or RE3 for that matter, since I assume they're hard at work on Resident Evil 4. I can understand that, and so could everyone else, but it would of been a nice treat to actually go for it since Capcom did the same thing to Resident Evil 1. RE2 doesn't boast anything new and doesn't do anything particularly well that hasn't been done before. Nothing has been vastly improved, which makes you wonder why they couldn't have remade RE2 as well. Though, for one thing, the sound was good back then when it was originally released, and it hasn't been changed, and it still sounds just as good. The button layout has been changed to suit the Gamecube, and it's the same button layout and controller configuration as with all the RE's released on the Gamecube. If you have already mastered the controls, then there is no problem controlling any of the characters in the game. RE2 will probably disappoint you if you were looking for something new. If you weren't, or you have yet to try RE2, it is definitely worth a rental because of the game's rather short length that actually can be beaten in a rental period. Buying the game might not be worth all your money, even with the low price tag. The outdated graphics and the low replay value hurt the game the most. If your looking for RE action, check out RE0 or the RE Remake, but it's best to try out RE2 if you have yet to experience what it has to offer.
