Resident Evil revistited

Well, Capcom is going around and renewing all the older Resident Evil games and making them for the gamecube. The first 2 games to be released were Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 0. BOth of these games were re-done in a such a fashion to incluse breathtaking graphics, incredible sound design and new puzzles as well as enemies. And both games were good. But now, for the final 2 resident evil games, RE2 and RE3, Capcom simply decided to re-release a ported game from the dreamcast versions of the game. This is an iffy move, since these games were considered new back in 1998 and 99. But how do they compare so many years later?

Resident Evil 3 follows Jill Valentine and her escape from Racoon City. Partaking in the events that occured in the same time as RE2, Jill tries to rush out of the city, which because of the actions of Umbrella and Birken, is now infested with flesh-eating zombies. Overall, the story is pretty good, and can stand alone from the rest of the series pretty well. Even though not much backstory is revealed about UMbrella itself, The game is very good at presenting you with a live or die situation and throwing you in the middle of it.

The zombies this time around are not the same zombies as #1 or #2. Even though the AI may be the same, there are hordes of them this time around and they can very easily swarm you, leaving you vulnrable to attacks. Luckily, this time Jill has some extra moves she can do, including a sidestep technique and a quick turnaround, which do wonders in surviving in the environment. Also new is the inclusion of 1 boss monster that follows you around everywhere. The nemesis. EVen though not much is revealed, the beast can really pop out ofd nowhere to attack Jill, so the player is constantly on their toes.

The real problems I found in this game is the graphics and prcetag. The games graphics were state of the art back in 1999. This time around, almost 5 years later, the graphics feel really dated, and the 30-40$ pricetag cannot be justified. If they re-did the graphics itd be fine, but almosty full pricing on a game that was released so long ago with no improvements? That is what the major problem is. The game itself is very good, but you simply cannot attempt to cash out by selling an old game for a new games price tag.
