Resident Evil 3: Nemesis doesn't get off to the best start, yet what it lacks in aesthetic appeal it makes up for later.

The Resident Evil series started off on the Playstation, and ever since then, the series has been consnantly evolving. With Resident Evil 2 and 3 making the crossover from the PlayStation to the GameCube, die hard GC users can now experience the respective installments of the series on there own console. But if you've already played Resident Evil 3 on the PS2, you may be disappointed at some of the aspects lost in translation:

A Modern Horror reminiscent of Grim Fandango:
While Nemesis continues the story of the previous Resident Evil episodes, the beginning does very little to recall the events of the original. The first thing new players will have to familiarize themselves with is the controls. Those who played games like Grim Fandango may find these controls familiar. Resident Evil also looks like Grim Fandango in terms of graphics. Grim Fandango had superb graphics back then, but they don't look so good in a new generation GameCube game.

Graphics:
Pixelated character models, large polygonal objects, blurry menus, drawn-in environments which looked good in Grim Fandango, but don't look so hot in this game. The Nemesis looks pretty horrifying.

Sound:
Phoned-in dialogue from most main characters. The Nemesis sounds pretty horrifying.

Gameplay:
Poor control, but this can be remedied when you get accustomed to them. The story is wonderfully told which keeps you going in spite of some of the dodgy gameplay elements.

Value:
I bought this game for £14.99, and I think it was worth the money. I'm playing it on the Wii and do not own a memory card, and only got so far in to the story. But I can see myself constantly going back to it (until I get a memory card and don't need to constantly go back from the beginning).

The closing chapter of the first three Resi games =P offers a mediocre experience on the GameCube, yet was such a great title on the PS1 a while ago, it isn't so hot now.
