Horrifying!

Resident Evil has survived it's own horror by rebuilding the game from 6' deep up. The whole emphasis behind the original RE was a horror mystery about "What happened here and why?". The walking dead obviously made it more interesting besides being just a story with a back stabbing twist. The series started to lose it's focus after RE2 and became a, "follow the path, shoot the dead in the head, solve the puzzles and finish the game under 6 hours", chore to complete. The undead had lost their appeal to repetition and recycling. RE4 is an overhaul, a refinement and a return to the original formula. Now the series starts over with a new mystery to solve and a horrific world to explore while trying to survive. The government [CAPCOM] has eliminated Umbrella along with the flesh eating corpses. The game is a visually immersive environment filled with an audio intense atmosphere. The characters realism and movements are highly detailed and the enemies A.I. is relentlessly persistent. The visual and sound effects are a work of art and make great use of a good wide-screen and stereo system. The gameplay controls are responsive and simplied with one main action button. In other words, it's not like having to learn how to play the Moonlight Sonata on a piano. I hope CAPCOM continues to build on this idea and keep coming up with new horror mysteries. In closing, don't act like a stumbling foot dragging zombie, get to the store and pick this game up like it's the cure for the T-Virus.
