I'd be lying if I said RE4 is like other RE games. Classic RE fans may be disappointed with how much RE4 changes the series. However no classic fan can deny that this is a brilliant action game and one of the best action games ever made. RE4 focuses alot more on its action than other RE's. The new behnd leon camera allows for new intuitive controls that improves greatly upon the classics. The story is no longer about zombies. Is that a good thing or bad? Personally I think this story owns classic RE story. This game is very difficult but unlike classics its not so hard you get frustrated and hate the game. A much better save system is used in this game. In classics you would have to find ink ribbons and then use them on typewriters to save. In this game you just save at any typewriter without the added frustration of having to collect ink ribbons. Also RE4 has a checkpoint system unlike classics. If you died in classics you would go back to your last save point. If you die in RE4 you would have to start from the start of that area where the checkpoint was. I think these things are a great improvement. Ammo conservation is less frustrating now. Its still a big part of the game but its nowhere near as frustrating as it was in classics. Bosses are brilliant in this game. A huge lake monster, giants, all different kinds of monsters are bosses. Foes in this game are brilliant. There's your simple villagers that want to kill you, men than when you kill them things come out of their heads, chainsaw ppl, regenerators, I could go on for quite a while. The new idea of the merchant is a good idea. You can buy and sell things, upgrade your weapons, buy new weapons, but a tactical vest, buy bigger cases to make your inventory bigger. The game is extremely long, probably taking you 20+ hours your first playthrough plus it has quite a bit of replay value. Once you complete the game you unlock a new mission as ada and you unlock the mercenaries mini game. Plus there's always new excitement in the main game to replay. Basicly this game is brilliant and you'd be a fool not to get this. One of the best games I've ever played, if not the best.
