I beat this game just to tell my GC fanboy friend that it was overrated. I can't believe I had ever said that.

I have a friend who all he could do was talk about Resident Evil 4. He doesn't even have the game, heck, he hasn't even played it. But that's all he'll talk about is the newest games, on Gamecube of course. Finally, after seeing Gamespot's score of 9.6, I decided it was time to check this game out. I walked down to the nearest (and only) Movie Gallery, (slipped on the ice once) and picked the game up. I walked back up to my house and popped the little disk in. I was ready to see this "9.6-worthy" game. I started playing it and without even realizing it, became immersed. Let me explain. Graphics: Let's just put it this way. Screenshots do not do this game justice. You have to see it to believe it. The absolutely incredible environments immerse you into an unbelievable atmosphere like I've never been immersed in before. The dark and detailed environments create such an incredible experience that it's hard to describe. You really feel a sense of urgency and tension throughout the entire game. All thanks to the masterfully crafted detailed worlds. Truly amazing. Sound: There isn't much sound in the game, for silence usually works best in an eerie game like this. But when music is necessary, it kicks in, making the thrills and intensity increase incredibly. The voice acting is quite good too, I should mention. Story: OK, if there is one thing I was dissapointed in, it was the story, but this game really doesn't need a story to be a masterpiece like it is. The story starts out actually quite interesting, but ends up being not so much. The "solution" to the main characters' "problem" is extremely anti-climactic, but of course I won't spoil it. Just go into the game not expecting much story and you will be completely content. I should also mention I have never played the previous RE games so that could have an impact on my opinion, but it wasn't really written well regardless anyway. Gameplay: The gameplay in this game is so thrilling and intense I can't really think of a game where I've felt this way before. I am not exaggerating when I say that there is not a single moment without intense action. It will get your heart pumping like crazy. The one or two moments that don't have mad creatures attacking you, the downright freaky atmosphere will surely intensify you just as much. I'd like to close off this review saying that I've never played a game quite like this before. The controls are perfect, the enemy A.I. is brilliant, the atmosphere is just too incredible for words, the gameplay, the sound, everything is just too good. (Except the story) Now if this review hasn't changed your mind I don't know what will. If you have any slight of doubt on your mind about getting this game, think about my review and just get it. You will not be disappointed.
