Survival horror is back! But is it better?

User Rating: 8.1 | Resident Evil 4 PS2
Let me start off by saying that I loved Resident Evil when it first came out. I bought the sequel and Nemesis when they arrived, and loved them as well. So when RE4 first came as a Gamecube exclusive, I was kinda disappointed. (Since I don't own a GC) So when it finally arrived on PS2, I had to get it.
Let's get into it.

Gameplay: For starters, the graphics are amazing! I must say this is one of the best looking PS2 games to date. All character and weapon models are perfect. The environments look very good also. I only wish there were a bit more interactivity (other than the obvious things to move the game along). The plot is decent, although the voice acting and script in general could use some work. The controls work well, the only problem (a minor one at that) is the camera, if only it was zoomed out a tad bit more.

Sound: Nothing truly memorable here, sound effects are good. Again, voice acting could be a bit less cheesy.

Extras/Unlockables: There is TONS of stuff here! An extra playable character (separate missions, two different scenarios), tons of extra weapons and even alternate costumes. Lots of replay value here folks!

So, overall, its a good take on the Resident Evil series. There is one last thing I'd like to say. What is with all the recent games using the Dragon's Lair gameplay? You know what I mean (God of War, PoP:TTT and now this). I mean it works I guess, but still, seems like developers are running out of ideas for action games.

Anyway, still a great game, a must have for RE and action fans.
