"Holy crap, this game is insane."

I waited until I got all the unlockables and beat the game about six times before i wrote this review, I knew for a game this incredible, it needed time. The story in general is that you are Leon (From Resident Evil 2 and other spin-offs) and you are sent to Spain to find the presidents daughter, Ashley. This starts out as another walk in the woods, until you walk in the first cabin. You ask a villager burning something in the fireplace if he has seen her, holding out a picture of her. He turns around, saying something in an unknown language. Leon Just says, "Sorry to have bothered you." And walks out. That is until he turns around with a axe, throwing himself in your direction. Once you quickly learn the controls in about two seconds, you'll enter another cutscene. Your spanish buddies leave you, and you hear a roaring crash as the wander off. This is as far as I will go, because I don't want to ruin the game for you. Gameplay- You are so immersed, that when a sadistic cult woman with a sack over her head cuts you head off with a roaring chainsaw, I flinch and grab my neck in horror. The way Capcom implemented the new over the shoulder perspective, interactive cutscenes, and the action button are just strokes of pure genius. The control setup is like nothing I have ever seen before, it just works that well. You can't jump on command, only in certain areas, if you could that would most likely take away from the games cinematic performance. The game is in letterbox format, not only does this add to the games cinematics, but gives a great peripheral. I also mentioned interactive cutscenes. Lets say you are talking to an enemy in the middle of a cutscene and suddenly, WHAM! A huge rock starts rolling down the hill Indiana Jones Style. On the screen, it will say tap A, and once you do, you have do go faster and faster, it might say L+R, so you smash at the L+R triggers and you dodge into a ditch and save yourself from the rock. There is even a whole bossfight that is a cutscene. I would have you say my favorite part is when you are talking to a person who kidnapped ashley and suddenly you whip out your knife and fling it had his hand, pinning him to the wall. Suddenly, he flings it right back at you, make you think (OhmygodLRLRLRLRLR) but once you dodge it, it's not over. He pulls a level sending you down a pit of spikes. (ABABBABAB!!!!) You shoot you grapple hook onto a ledge saving yourself from impalement. The enemy was listening for your sound of when you hit the spikes using a horn type thing. Then another part comes tell ing to tap AAAAAAA, you shoot the other end of the horn, causing his ear to bleed. I found it hilarious, intense, and downright satisfying. Graphics- Probably the strongest part of the game, they just look real. The only real issue is clipping, but theres not a boat load of it. This could be the main reason to make it okay for you to scream like a little girl when the first firefight starts. The lighting, proportions, and character models are just insane. Sound- As you walk across wooden floors, you hear sounds like dum-dum-dum-creek-dum-thump-CRASH! These sounds don't reapeat either. All the voice overs are top-notch, the score is awesome, and the cult like chatter is just damn frightening. Value- I would hate to give out spoilers, but there is alternate main menus, difficulties, costumes, side-storys, mini games, extra weapons and the game is just so great to go through more than once, or twice, or even thrice. This is the greatest horror, Gamecube, or even game ever made, and I will remember this as a true revolutionary title for years to come.
