Quite possibly the best Resident Evil ever!

Resident Evil 4 is the newest entry in Capcom's survival horror genre and it very well could be the best, here's why. When Resident Evil began oh so many years ago it was considered the scariest game of it's time. Your objective was, more or less, to fight off a zombie invasion and get out alive, thus defining the term "survival horror". Almost a decade later, Capcom releases it's finest effort to date, Resident Evil 4, exclusively for Nintendo's Gamecube. Resident Evil 4 takes the series in a entirely different direction, moving the camera to the over the shoulder, updating the graphics engine, and removing the zombies, the game is almost not Resident Evil anymore. It is not until your buried deep within the games core, do you realize that infact Capcom is more or less made something with the Resident Evil feel, but a whole lot better as well. I am not going to give the secrets away, but let me tell you that because the game does not have zombies in it, it actually benefits. The story is fairly simple, Leon, the character from the first game, is back and his job is to protect the President's daughter. The problem is, right before he starts work, she is kidnapped and is being held in this village. Your mission is to find her, and extract her before either you or her is killed. The graphics in RE 4 are some of the very best your ever likely to see on the Gamecube or any console for that matter. Every piece of the game is perfectly rendered and it all looks nothing short of amazing. Sharp textures, great character models, great gore, and some pretty water help make this game look and feel better than any RE of the past. One of my favorite aspects of the games look is the way looks when you shoot one of the "villagers" in a specific part of the body. You pull your pistol and shoot someone in the leg, they will drop to a knee and grab it before persuing you, and it is nothing short of amazing to watch. The sound in RE 4 is also very impressive, everything from enemies voices, too voice work by the main characters, this game has it all. The sounds the weapons make are also nice, the boom of the shotgun, the rat-tat-tat of the machine gun, and the bang of the pistol make this games sound something to behold. Overall there are not enough good things to say about this game. Everything from graphics, to sound, to gameplay, they all work to near perfection, making this game a must own for anyone who owns a Gamecube. And while the PS2 version is still in the works, if it is anywhere near as good as this version, I would also recommend and buy as well. One of the very best games I have ever played, way to go Capcom.
