Resident Evil 4, the best in the series in my opinion, find out why.

Resident Evil 4 is an amazing game, nobody really can argue with that. Its one of the most critically acclaimed games of this generation, for good reason. RE4's bold defiance of the series infamously clunky gameplay mechanics set it apart as a really different experience. Capcom didn't just want to distance itself from the resident evil's of yesteryear, they wanted to do it with style and finesse. As a result Resident Evil 4 is one of the most polished games i've ever come across, this clearly was a labour of love for Capcom. The detail in not only the visuals, but the core of the gameplay is astounding. Let me give you an example, when you shoot an enemy in the right position he will be stunned momentarily, allowing you to kick him backwards and possibly into oncoming foes. While this seems to be quite a superfluous addition to the gameplay, if you were to take this ability out of game the core gameplay would be changed dramatically. This attention to detail really sets Resident Evil 4 apart from the competition.But Capcom does keep the best parts of the previous Resident Evil games, like really great atmosphere and a story that is well delivered. In terms of graphics this is right up there with games like Half-Life 2 and Chronicles of Riddick. Capcoms technical prowess cannot be questioned. The one part where I was disappointed was the story. It started out nicely, but ended up pulling the player into familiar Resident Evil environments, eg. the castle. Other than that, Resident Evil 4 can be described as being the perfect sequel, keeping the bet parts of its predecessors and improving on them in every imaginable way.
