A worthy game to play and the reason we continue to play them.

The Good: Graphics, Gameplay, Story, Music, Continues

The Bad: Control, Camera, Stop and Shoot

So, the main character, Leon, is a military agent sent to investigate a portion of Europe that is infected with a plague and is simultaneously the location of the kidnapped President's daughter. Playing as Leon, you will understand quickly that he is far from a super hero. His aim is lofty and his weapons, although upgradable, run out of ammo quickly. With this in mind, you will encounter countless mob attacks and medieval boss fights with plague infected zombies and cult mutants that refuse to say, "die." Needless to say, this makes for a long and well paced game that unfolds gradually with a stream of surprises.

The graphics are outstanding and the level designs, menus, bosses and characters all contribute in making RE4 a joy to play. I mean, If you're going to lead around the President's daughter, she may as well have big humongous knockers to boot too, right? The bosses are disgustingly breathtaking and are by far, the best ones that I've ever faced in a video game. With it's overall "horror" theme, you are placed in a game world that is equally creepy, dark, and twisted. -PS2 at its best.

The story keeps you on your toes, as you never know when a cut scene will result in a boss fight or not. Walkie-Talkie updates also proved to be a bit annoying, but overall, the presentation made it easy to overlook its minor nuisances. Come to think of it, its presentation also made up for its god awful control and crappy camera. Does Leon have a stiff neck or something? And if you're going to be fending off mobs, shouldn't you be able to see them surrounding you? Using back on the analog and pressing square to spin around is crucial at times, otherwise movement is way too slow and stiff. It's like wielding a cardboard cut-out character at times.

Exploration will involve collecting gems, coins, treasure and locating key items for story progression. Some treasures can be combined with others to sell off at a much higher value. Use the earnings to purchase new weapons or upgrades from the various merchants throughout the levels. There are a good deal of puzzles thrown into the mix but they aren't too difficult to overcome through trial and error. If you haven't already, add this to your collection.
