Resident Evil Redefined (ya I know thats taken from the back of the game)

User Rating: 9.5 | Resident Evil 4 PS2
While I never really enjoyed any of the other Resident Evil games, after seeing some trailers I decided to give the series another chance, and man was I surprised about how much different this game was than any of the others. It does away with some of the problems that have plagued the games, gone is the crappy aiming system (you now can aim anywhere you want instead of just up, down and center mass), gone are the game limitations (you can now jump through windows, barricade doors, crouch etc.), the complicated puzzle (most puzzle are now simple, sometimes too simple) and most importantly, gone are those god-damned pre-rendered backgrounds (in its place is a nice 3d camera system). All while keeping the things that made the other games great. The game has great environments, multiple (and not to mention damn creepy) enemies, a cool story and brace yourself... boss battles.

But with this new formula, comes its problems, awkward dialog, frustrating boss battles and the fact that you constantly have to guard the defenseless Ashley, who for some reason keeps getting capture, again and again. You now by the third time I have to rescue you its getting god-damn tiring.

Still this is a great, the ambition really pays off. I can only hope Resident Evil 5 follows suit.
