As all the greats say look no further. The word TEDIOUS comes to mind when I think back to all my previous Resident Evil experiences. Sure the game looked awesome , the story was scary, and if you had the controls down packed it was fun to shoot the undead. But when I also think back I think puzzles hard ones, and the constant need to retrace my steps. Oh and forget about just gazing around your enviroment, you had to search every dusty, cob web infested nook and crany. Fun for some , and if you wanted the best survival horror game everyone knew what to suggest ofcourse.

Now the makers of RE really took a 180' with this one, and its safe to say they totally re-invented the game, AND THATS A GOOD THING. First thing you notice is the graphics , awesome one of the nicest I've seen. Really different from what you expect your RE game to look like. RE4 offers pretty vast "outdoor" enviroments, and the details are everywhere you look. Your view point has changed. You see the back of your character, its kind of like a 2nd person shooter type thing cause you see over Leon's shoulder. Its alot easier than what the previous instalments had to offer.

The controls also changed. Its alot easier to control your character now, because of that over the shoulder thing. But some straffing would have been nice, and also the ability to walk with your gun could have made the whole control factor perfect. BUT it still works well regardless of these minor draw backs in the control department.

Now with all these changes you feel like you are playing a different game.(in a good way) The game is so much more fun to play, with the gameplay focusing more on action and weapons , than finding keys and solving puzzles. You do have your puzzle hear and there but its nothing too too difficult. You hardly have to re-trace any of your steps you flow from one chapter to another killing off whordes of ummm creatures. the way you aquire your weapons in also quite interesting for a RE game, you'll find out. In the middle of all this action, you see a pretty typical kind of dramatic horror themed , conspiracy story being unraveled. Whatever, the gameplay is what its all about here and the cut scenes are not that long and they do a good job of tieing everthing together.

I played about 20 hours of this game and still have not finished , so its a pretty long game. i should say that this is one of the few games I 've played recently that would make me want to play for 4 or 5 hours straight, yeah its that good. You always want to know what happens next. Everything moves along really well, the action is edge of your seat, nothing gets stale or tedious. Its safe to say that RE4 is one of the best games I have ever played, I don't see anything wrong with the game except that the action could be too intense at times!!!!
