¡Un Forastero!
The game starts off with Leon S Kennedy, who is a CIA operative, currently undercover, to find the president’s daughter, who’s been kidnapped. As soon as he gets to the suspected area, he realizes that it’s no ordinary village…
First of all, the gameplay. Everything, from the aiming, to the running, to dodging in cut-scenes, to general fighting, is very well-articulated and perfected. Physics are realistic in this sense, bullets flying just right, and kicks and knife-cuts are appropriately done.
As for graphics, they simply can’t be beaten. Even in the new generation of consoles, Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube looks amazing. The blood splatters, the murky water, and other gory, bloody details are just fantastic.
The sound is perfect. It is constantly creepy, and you hear the subtle changes in it when danger increases, and is unrivaled at giving you a sense of panic when it starts playing. It’s even tasked with lulling you into a false sense of security at times, which it delivers perfectly at shooting galleries, shops, and save points. It even delivers “calm before the storm” before major boss fights.
This game WILL last you ages. The value lasts for ages, with not only an epic story to plough through, but with some side-quests and loads of nice goodies, including a few awesome mini-games, you won’t put down this game any time soon (except for when they re-release it for the Wii!).
All in all, this game is unblemished, and I love it to gory chainsaw-given death. Everything seems to just…..click. However, you may be wondering why I’ve given it a 9.7, and not a 10. Can I tell you why?
It could have been scarier.
