Capcom in all their glory. And then some.

Resident Evil... I remebering locking all the doors to the house, sitting alone in the dark at about 2am, sleep deprived and wide-eyed as I navigated my way through the mansion at the start of the original Resident Evil. I had finally convinced myself I wasn't scared of the game and was going to venture BACK OUT the front door where all of the newly unintimidating zombie dogs were waiting for me. I walked up to the door, pressed the action button and screamed like a little girl and dropped the controller when the dog tries to jump through the door at me. I immediately decided that if I ever wanted to make it anywhere in the game I was going to have to play with the lights on at least. Unfortunately, since then, survival horror has lost a lot of the horror aspect for me. Resident Evil 4 brought a little of that back. More importantly though, the gameplay, oh my gosh the gameplay. Controls are awesome. Dodging giant zombiesque trolls sort of makes it a requisite. The graphics are good, nothing extreme in that department, but definately above par. The same goes for sound. And the storyline is a good Resident Evil storyline (for those Resident Evil challenged that means intriguing and creepy). If anyone isn't already a fan of the genre, this installment could definately bring them to the dark side *mwa ha ha*.... right anyway. The only thing that was even close to a disappointment about the game may be the low number of unlockable features. There are more in the PS2 version then the original, but I think if Capcom got on the ball and released a Resident Evil with replayability like Square's Parasite Eve 2, I might have to reorder my "Favorite Game Publisher" list.
