thrilling and long
GAMEPLAY: You play as Leon Scott Kennedy a former Raccon City Policeman who was involved in the Raccoon City outbreak caused by the Umbrella Corporation. You are sent to Spain to find the U.S. president kidnapped daughter. Learning the controls is basic and simple. Throughout the first chapter of the game, there will be guides that you can read to learn the controls. You start out with a handgun and a knife in the beginning. The shooting is easy because most of the guns have lasers and the camera is now 3rd person.( the shots are more accurate ex. if you shoot an enemie on the knee the enemy will will fall) Throughout the chapters, enemies and bosses will be harder to kill, and to many people the enemies will become scarier as you get further. Also as you get farther the weapons are better but more expensive. The graphics are better than all the other ps2 games i've played. Also once you beat the game, proffessional mode is availble which if you beat proffessional mode on PS2, you get the PRL 412(laser cannon). Throughout the game you will find ammo and health herbs by killing enemies or shooting boxes.
WEAPONS: You eventually save up pesetas to buy weapons from a merchant who appears in the game a fairly number of times. The first time you meet the merchant is later in the first chapter. As usual you can also buy first aid spray from the merchant and sell items of value to him. You can also upgrade your weapons. Upgrades include firepower, capacity, fire speed, and reloading speed. All of the guns except the Killer7 have exclusives which are the last and most effecting upgrades that can be done to a gun. However they appear late in the game and they are more expensive. Some guns also are able to blow off the enemies heads. There are also special weapons which can be bought or are free. The special weapons are the infinite ammo chicago typewriter, matilda, and the infinite rocket launcher. The infinite ammo chicsago typewriter and infinite rocket launcher are bought for 1 million pesetas each but they don't need to be upgraded. The matilda is priced alot lower, however you still need to upgrade it. The other special weapons are the P.R.L. 412(only in PS2 version) and the Handcannon. The P.R.L. 412 is free only when you beat the game on professional mode( It does not need to be upgraded and can damage enemies and the plaga- which you will learn about playing the game. The Handcannon is free only if you get 5 stars in all levels with all the mercenaries. However you still need to upgrade the handcannon. It's very expensive to upgrade, but it is worth it.
ENEMIES: The enemies become stronger and harder to kill throughout the story. In RE4, the enemies are not zombies like in the previous RE4 games.
Some enemies have certain weaknesses.
EXTRAS: There are the special weapons which I have described. There are also extra mini games. There is The Mercenaries, Assignment Ada, and Seperate Ways. These mini games are unlocked when you beat the story mode. SEPERATE WAYS is ONLY on PS2 version. Mercenaries is a mini game where you are timed and you can find things that will give you more time, the main mission of mercenaries is to kill as much enemies as possible in the time amount, the more enemies you kill in a row, the better the score. Seperate Ways and Assignment Ada are mini missions you play as Ada Wong. In Assignment Ada, you must find Plaga Sample while at the same time killing enemies. In Seperate Ways you learn Ada's story dealing with the plagas and you unlock reports about characters in story mode. Beating the game unlocks the Raccoon Police Department Costume for Leon, beating Seperate Ways unlocks Leon's gangster outfit.
