This Game is Fantastic. You know or have heard it, I've said it and heard it, we all know amazing this game is....those of us with gamecubes more than ps2 owners though...But thats not the point. The reason i write this review is because not one single player game has kept me interested for a full year. This is the first game i played to 100 percent in the first 6 months i had it. Resident evil 4 takes everythign about resident evil and throws the switch on everythign that everyone wanted. More gunplay is one of the things that makes this game so great. While just lookin at it may make you think its a little repetitive, but its really not, as a variety of weapons makes ofr multiple strategies to take down multiple enemies in multiple settings and situations. The puzzles are more like coffee breaks in this one, as most follow a simple pattern that is just there to break up the constant violence in the game, and some puzzles are even optional so if you dont feel the need to stop, you can skip it though you may miss a chance to make some extra money. Speaking of money, this is the first RE i can think of that uses a system of currency. You can buy multiple items like guns and gun upgrades, as well as health items, a tactical vest, and the bonus weapons you can unlock. The AI is jsut perfect for this type of game, as it never totally makes you feel like you have no chance, but it also brings tension in as it makes you feel closed in and unaware of certain things. Upon completion of the game, theres 2 new game modes and a harder difficulty along with new weapons when those are completed. The harder difficulty will test your skill as memorization wont get you through beacause it adds more enemies and gives you less ammo to contend with, though the ammo thing isnt very significant. There's never a point where you'll feel stuck or something, and if you do for any reason get "stuck", there a map that has a destination marker on it so theres nothing to hold you back. While the end is disappointing, theres no dip in qualtiy, jsut a slight recession where you know its over...btu not really....If youve never played this game, the GC or PS2 verisons are fine to get, btu if u want to experience it the way it was meant to be, get a gamecube and this game. You'll not regret it.
