Resident Evil 5?? Resident Evil Dive! This is what happens when you try to keep with the pace!
I can imagine the guys in the office:
Dave: "What could we do to make the game better, and appeal to the new market"
Bob: "I know, ramp the graphics, add co-op and copy 28days later with an all new zombie menace"
Dave: "Done"
Hang on, what about character? what about story? what about sticking to roots?
Graphically, the game has soared but everything else seems out of place for a resident Evil title.
Resident Evil has never boasted a wonderful camera/control system, it has always been clunky since the original on the ps1. This time round, it seems worse. The whole game feels really slow and clunky. Chris Redfield would of probably moved faster with a zimmerframe. Then when you turn tail and flee, you find yourself hugging a wall.
The main character should of been Henry the Hippie, at least then you would be serving a purpose. NEVER MIND ME, SAVE THE WALLS!
The zombies (well, if we can call them zombies) don't even know what they are supposed to be doing. They are blood thirsty, out to kill you, looking evil and menacing. They charge you with weapons and arms flailing. They are going to kill me... no, hang on, they have stopped about 3ft in front of me. It seems that they are all looking at each other as in to say:
"So, who's going first?"
Meanwhile, you have blasted the hell out of their empty skulls with a gazillion bullets.
The story? Stop that wakko over there playing and becoming god.
Wow, how original.
This game needs to go back to its roots. Dismiss the over the shoulder view...bring back the atmosphere. BRING BACK ZOMBIES! Create a fresh story.
The game has it's perks however, apart from he glorious graphics, the ability to play co-cooperatively really makes the game more bearable, helping each other solve puzzles and protecting and helping each other survive really brings to life the genre of "survival horror".
It was wonderful to see Albert and Jill once again (but no Barry?)
The game is ok...however, it differs very little from Resident Evil 4, with exception to graphics and co-op.
Maybe because I am a hardcore fan of the original and the following 2 sequels, I'm finding it hard to adjust to the new direction Resident Evil is going. The game works, but it just doesn't feel right giving it the title "Resident Evil".
