The Good. The Bad. And The Verdict.

User Rating: 8 | Resident Evil 5 (Collector's Edition) PS3
Resident Evil 5 is the first in the series I have played, so I wasn't too sure how well it would pan out to be. Must say, if your looking for a solid game to RENT with a friend this is one of them.

Good: Co-op is fantastic to use, I had only some complaints in this area. The gameplay is pretty good, and the "not being able to run while shooting" adds to the great experience. Limited ammo throughout the game also gives the effect of trying to scavenge and survive which I really liked as well. What I really liked is the ability when to upgrade your weapons and buy weapons with the money you earn through missions. Boss battles are great to play through and are somewhat difficult at times. Did I mention the loading times between levels are really quick? Bonus!

Bad: In the Co-op mode, player 1 can only buy, sell and upgrade things, which really got me P O'd at times because of having to give my buddy my weapon to upgrade for me. The melee in the game really doesn't do too much, which some people might think it adds to the game while I believe it diminishes RE5. The replayability of this game is at a very low score I would think, due to the fact that their is only one way to defeat the many boss's you will come across, and the fact that it is a game that doesn't allow free roaming.

Verdict: RE5 is a great game to RENT with a buddy, but I wotuld seriously not buy the game unless a fanatic about owning all of the Resident Evil games. The replayability is just not there, even though there is cooperative online, it does not hide the fact that there is no difference how you play the game one way or another: you get the same end result of beating the game. Now I know I might get some flak from readers saying I shouldn't have expected RE5 to be an RPG. But don't you think that all games should follow RPG outline? Sports games follow them somewhat, racing games, action games, almost all great games would be considered following RPG guideline somewhat. Because of replayability! Sorry I just caught myself on a rant there, anyways what I was getting at is that RE5 just doesn't have it to be great, only good.
