Yeah its still great.
Well I tell u now, calm down. Game use same system/engine as previous RE4 did and add new character which will actually accompany u - not even once u'll play level alone. I though there will be problems as am not fan of such system but they couldn't make it better, it simply works great. I never had problem with my ally, she also respond to environment and danger very well, shooting pretty good etc. I almost fell in love with her, the way she look at u.. in no other game u get such strong personality feel just from graphic and animation behavior. Just hover your camera to see her while standing still and u'll see.. O.M.G.
Africa never looked so atmospheric, other games like FarCry2 can only dream about it. First levels are best, then it come to undergrounds, research facilities and such but that Africa feel in beginning... its AWESOME!
For me RE4 was best game in series and one of the best games ever, if I compare RE5 to it I say its shorter and overall not as good, but its different, different setting, atmosphere, style. Because of that and because it use same kick-ass game-play mechanics, it still is IMO on same quality level. Yes I rather explore castles and play as solo, but they decided to do what they did and they did it great no matter what.
Some people say its not scary anymore. People already know what RE series are about, you can only do as many "scare" sequels before it get dry. So they took more realistic approach and made game more believable, expecting players to know whats going on and going to the point of what must be done to stop it. Its also during day in Africa not some dark mansion and that's why I think it was done best it could for such setting, creating very distinct game.
Overall this is another kick-ass game together with new Batman maybe only games in some time that have value for me. Don't listen to haters, be open minded and u'll appreciate it. It shall get 9/10 and RE4 10/10. Also, don't play with mouse. No really, get X360 pad. I mean it. Or u'll really get action shooter...
