A great game, but not exactly a Resident Evil...

I will start with the pros and cons immediately, no intro needed.

+ The graphics. In a high end pc the game's visuals are excellent, although I noticed some places that could have been better. But the overall feeling was great.

+ Most gameplay elements are nice and there is a variety of items, weapons and hidden things to explore and find.

+ Scary moments were really scary, not some jumpscares that become old after some time. Yes of course, you can more or less predict what's coming, but it was well presented and executed. The music and audio effects added a great deal to that. Really good and tense atmosphere.

- My biggest problem: player movement! The most frustrating aspect of the game. Although I was not a big fan of the first person perspective in RE, I kinda liked it, but with this SLOW player movement it leads to a lot of frustrating moments, especially during boss fights. I was trying to run away from the molded or the Bakers and Ethan was like jogging in the park on a lazy Sunday morning...

- Another think that I didn't like was the almost complete absence of challenging puzzles. The only puzzle that was good was the one with Lucas's party room and the candle. The rest were far too easy.

- The story. It is not really original. Once again a strange little experiment girl with some supernatural powers doing creepy stuff. I think I've seen it a lot of times in movies, series, games etc and it kinda reminded of F.E.A.R.

It is obvious all over the game that it has a lot of influence from games like Outlast and Silent Hill. In fact it looks more like them, than the Resident Evil games. It is a great game, and the fans of survival horror will love it, but I wouldn't call it a Resident Evil.
