Buying this game, I had little prior expectations. I used to play RE 1-3 but then lost interest since the game series kept repeating itself with similar game mechanics in new settings. Enemies where in hords, puzzles and everything very predictable and basically... not a very scary game.
RE7 is the complete opposite to that. It thrives on build ups, twisting your perception to the point of actually finding yourself IN the game, with a pulse of 150 and fearing for your life. This is what I both came to love and hate with the game - it actually was so scary that I first had to stop playing only 20 minutes in, simply because I couldn't take it anymore. And at that time I hadn't even faced one single enemy.
The storyline would beat almost any horror movie I know by sophistication, such as the ring or the conjuring. It keeps your attention high at all times and mixes well with parts of action in non-repetetive ways.
I'm not the guy who typically writes reviews, in fact - this is my first one. But I simply had to share my experience with you on this game. If you're in to horror and really want to get a truly unique experience of scare & action - RE7 should be your pick any day. I hope you will enjoy the game as much as I did.
