A game you must try if you still haven't

User Rating: 9 | Resident Evil GC
I'm writing this review almost seven years after the release of Resident Evil, but I was browsing my older games the other day and realized that as the release date for Resident Evil 5 draws near, there are likely many people out there who have never tried this game.

Rather than review the game as a new release, I'll just hit on some points that gamers who are used to next-gen games should know.

1. The angles you view from are often frustrating. If you're focusing solely on gameplay, it's very tough to enjoy a game that won't let you see around a corner in a critical moment or forces you to watch a transition from one room to the other either from above or below. Try to keep in mind this is a part of the atmosphere of the game. You get used to it.

2. You will never be able to blast your way through this game. RE is survival horror at its finest, with an emphasis on survival. Ammunition and health is limited, and if you play the tougher difficulty setting, there are more undead and they are harder to kill. This is not Halo.

3. You will be doing a lot of running back and forth. It's probably the biggest knock anyone can put on this game that you spend half your time traveling across one single area. Just keep your eyes peeled - they make up for that by springing surprises on you.

Even by today's standards, the graphics are great, and the game holds up very well. Considering that you can buy this game and a used Gamecube for less than a next-gen game, it's worth a try.
