A creepy and overall frightening game that will keep you glued to your seat.

Resident Evil is not only a scary and terrifying game, it also provides the player with an intense feeling of being in the game. The game starts off by showing a video of the second S.T.A.R.S. team being flown into a forest just outside of Raccoon City to search for a missing S.T.A.R.S. unit. Creepy. When the second unit lands on the ground, they quickly find a crashed helicopter, with members from the missing S.T.A.R.S. team in it. If that were not enough, the two pilots look like they have tried to be eaten. Very creepy. The story unfolds from there, and takes the player on a bone-chilling, and very entertaining, story. Gameplay: The gameplay in Resident Evil is quite good, except for a few nagging things. One of the major flaws in the game is the use of camera angles. Although the camera angles help to add to the scary atmosphere of the game, they can also be very frustrating to use when you are trying to see an enemy. Sometimes, you will run right into the arms of an enemy because you could not see them from the camera angle the game was using. That's just great. Aside from that, however, there are no more major gameplay flaws i could find with the game. The enemies are fairly smart and quick, and are just waiting for you to make a mistake...Though you have a few different weapons to use, I would have liked to see upgrades available for the guns, such as a laser-guide for the handgun or something. That way you could always know exactly where your bullet is going to go, and that would save you alot of ammo. All in all, the gameplay in Resident Evil is excellent, with many twists that one would not expect...
Graphics: The graphics in Resident Evil are some of the best available for the gamecube. Those who are loyal fans to the Resident Evil series now know how much better the game could be with better graphics, because the games originally came out for the playstation. being able to see into the dark corners a little clearly definitely saved some people's lives in game. Overall: Resident Evil was a great game for the original systems, and now it's full potential has been reached on the gamecube. The game is great, and it has plenty of value to be played a second time through. You can unlock alternate costumes, as well as play the game as the other character you could have picked at the beginning of the game(either Jill or Chris). Although the storyline is only slightly different between the two, it still provides an entertaining alternative to your first time through the game. This game had scary moments, and ranks among my favorite on the gamecube.
