Top of the line MP, mediocre Single Player
I know that sounds very bad, but it is not. Gameplay was so perfect it would make you forget about all the flaws in the story. Graphics in this version were more superior that the first resistance, details in the surroundings are very catchy, and your opponents' A.I above average. One more thing that would really grab your attention was the huge size of the bosses with absolutely no frame rate drop or texture issues.
Resistance 2 shines strongly with it's multiplayer gameplay. There were two modes, Co-operative mode, and competitive mode. The competitive mode is all about killing opponents to gain XP points which would unlock weapons and armor. The game scored with its co-operative mode. Co-operative mode was all about running through new levels, killing bosses with friends and gaining points to unlock new weapons, armor, and berserk modes. There are three classes, Medic who would keep everyone alive, soldier who shoots at enemies, and Special OPS who provides Ammo. All teamates should work together, when a teamate fails to their job, everyone would be at great risk.
Resistance 2 was an awesome game that everyone should have. But if you don't have an internet connected to your PS3, it would only be worth a rent since this game shines mainly in multiplayer. Good luck.
Please add me if you wanna have a friend in your co-operative mode. PSN name: Mithrex
