Undoubtably the BEST FPS OF 2008!
The single player:
has its ups
+large scale battles with soilders and other emeny infantry, in large numbers
+Great pacing game play and good looking cinematic, but not mind blowing
+varied enemies that will keep you on your toes
+Excellent score of music
+HUGE bosses which feel great to take down (mostly)
+Visuals looks fantastic, not the best but looks pretty, and a variety of set locations
+guns a unique and fun to use but not the best quality/quantity from Insomniac game :'(
+if you like looking for Intel/reading it, this time in single player there isn't a lot therefor it isn't that hard to find
and its downs
-some weird glitches here and there, and some screen poping
-bosses feel a too easy (but still epic) only the last boss was A BIG FAIL for me
-no vehicle sections (which i loved from RFOM) but i never really noticed in the 1st week of playing
-NO 2ND PLAYER even though you would have benefited from it
- STORY SUCKS (its decent) but I still don't like it, it could have been so much better
BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE TO RESISTANCE 2 ITS MULTI PLAYER - in one word AWESOME
It grows on you, with an 8 player coop and a mind boggling 60player (teams) in 1 game, both nv been heard before in a counsel game, not to mention both of these features in 1 game.
The good thing about this is the coop fits along side with the single player experience, as you get to play as Specter team an eight man squad. The battles aren't too intense but a variety can be appealing, especially with different tough enemies. At times coop can feel a bit cheesy, with soliders staying in 1 spot spray, Spec Ops staying behind the solider chucking ammo and medics just can draining. Also the same enemies with the same spawn points will repeat if you play the same mission. But with ribbons to win, intel to discover, weapons to upgrade, and soliders to level this is one awesome experience which if you like the thought of, i recommend you try.
The Competitive portion is interesting with over 60 players in teams, Now there is a standard death match (max 20) Capture the flag (max 40 i believe) and team death match (max 60 probably). Which is awesome!, but what really stands out is the Skirmish mode and the Old meltdown mode from R:FOM. Now both max out at 60 with large maps, Meltdown mode is basically about capturing nodes and spawning on teammates, but look it up. Skirmish is also unique, with the capture the point scenario where you capture nodes but this time u are commanded, and are awarded points, Points used towards winning. Its more fun when you are commanded to assassinate a member of the other team, or even yet, you ur self is the VIP that must survive. When the fighting gets too chaotic you will be commanded to rally your squad to a check point. With maps the explore, nodes to capture, noobs to own, weapons to experiment with, an intuitive tracking system, and levels to gain, which leads to berserks to unlock, this is an experience not to be ignored
Resistance 2 is an Excellent game that delivers on its promise, scale. It breaks alot of ground and will have alot of moments which will make your jaw drop. This game excels at bring intense action to new and hardcore players alike while maintaining the game's 1950 sci-fi feel. When you buy the game the scale of the value you get, feeling like 2 games for the price of 1, is only rival by the orange box. If you accept it, this is the best FPS of 08
