A bad ending to a good story...

User Rating: 7 | Resistance 3 PS3
Let me start by saying that Resistance 3 is a fun, solid, great looking game with some awesome moments (and they finally learned how to do iron sights correctly!), however, as an ending to a good story it really disappoints.

The story in Resistance was never very strong but was driven by the sullen and determined Nathan Hale. When Resistance 2 put an abrupt end to the story of Nathan Hale I thought it was a bold move and Insomniac must have something well thought out and special up their sleeve to make such a bold story decision. Instead the story of Resistance 3 is weak, full of holes and just plain poor story writing and doesn't pay the proper respects to Nathan Hale and the Resistance story. It would be an outstanding game if it were just a chapter in the Resistance story but as the climax and end of the series it just doesn't deliver.

I can't go into detail because of obvious spoilers but I have well reasoned arguments as a long-time fan of the franchise not to like this story as the end of the Resistance saga. Again, it's a great game but Resistance fans should be disappointed at this anticlimactic and weak ending to the story. If you applaud weak story writing you will continue to get weak story writing.

I give Resistance 3:
9 for gameplay/mechanics/technical
5 for story/writing
