Feels oddly familiar...

User Rating: 7 | Resistance: Fall of Man PS3
Ok, let me preface this by saying I played this game in 2010 shortly after I bought a ps3. My review, therefore, may be a little biased since I have played shooters such as Gears and Halo before I played this. Well, how does it measure up???

Presentation/Graphics: 6.0. I was NOT impressed with the graphics whatsoever. This game looks and feels like a good looking ps2 game. The cutscenes are very few and far between and the main character is the only one who looks polished. The environments are boring and bland. Nothing shiny or spectacular to look at.

Gameplay: 8.0. The gameplay feels very smooth. This is a pure first person shooter and you control Major Andrew Hale, an american fighting on European soil against The Chimera, a fictional alien invading earth. The main character moves extremely fast and the controls work very well. You have about 10 guns to choose from although you can only have two equipped at a time. Lots of baddies to kill and the game is quite challenging forcing the user to use strategy and cover.

Sound: 6.0. VERY weak. Almost no music. The voice acting is almost non-existent. Main character rarely speaks, and when he does, it is nothing special. There is narration between levels that works very well in filling you in on the storyline.

Storyline: 7.0. The Chimera, a fictional alien race, has invaded earth in an alternate 1940s Europe. You, playing as Major Andrew Hale, get infected and obtain special powers from the Chimera. Single-handedly, you are to infiltrate their lairs and eliminate the threat, thus helping all of Europe. The story is OK, not nearly that of Gears or Halo. (Again, maybe I am spoiled)
There is narration between levels which is quite cool, but they are done via still images, which is ps1 style. Very weak.

Replay Value: 7.0. I may play this game again. It has smooth controls and moves very fast. The game is challenging, but this is not a game I will remember. There is nothing special about the game. It is kinda just there.

Overall, an ok game. If you are looking for a Sci Fi shooter, give it a shot. But play Halo or Gears ahead of this one any day.
