Return to Zork is possibly the best adventure/puzzle game ever made. It takes place in the "Underground Empire" from the previous games known as Zork. While it may have come out over a decade ago, it still has some impressive features, including the ability to take pictures and record the voices of characters during the game. There is also the fact that even after all these years the graphics and sound are still good. The game is quite open-ended as well; you are not simply sent from place to place as in other adventure games but can choose where you would like to go and what you would like to do in whatever order you would like.
The story in this game is well thought out. There are many interesting characters in the game as well, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for you so I will let you find out about them for yourself. The gameplay itself is kind of a cross between Myst and Monkey Island, but definitely takes the best from both of those games. I should also mention that this is a very long game, even if you use a walkthrough it will take you quite some time.
Overall, if you have any Interset in adventure games and have an old enough computer to run it, go to Ebay now and find it. You won't regret it. Return to Zork is a true classic.
