A fun, classic adventure!

User Rating: 8.2 | Return to Zork PC
Considering that those who are familiar with the world of Zork would probably recall a simple text-based adventure, Return to Zork represents a leap in the game's history.

Open mailbox.

The game starts off with a great intro, circling a white house with boarded up windows. The camera stops at a mailbox and a letter is inside. All of a sudden a man appears on the screen and informs you that you've won a contest. "Ah, the contest winner." After a few more words, the man screams in terror, the music starts, and the camera whips you across the mountains into the Valley of Sparrows (now known as the Valley of Vultures).

I have many fond memories of this game. "Want some rye? 'Course ya do!"

The music is great, the story is great, the puzzles are challenging, the humor is spot on, and it's a long enough game to where you don't feel robbed afterwords. It's also the type of game well-worth playing over again, much like a good book is worth reading once more.

Sadly, the Zork saga died off due to many reasons. Die hard, hard-core fans are begging for a sequal in whatever form is available. Much of the story could easily be turned into a great book and I dare say, a movie.
