REZ was ahead of it's time in 2002 and still shines today in a very limited genre. The game started the music playing/shooting field and it is still strong even today. The light and feedback to the controller/harness are a direct result of your capabilities within the REZ levels you are playing in. The better you are at the game the faster the game play, brighter flashing lights, quicker the beat of the music, and more the game will intuitively throw at you as you proceed through the levels. It is a simple shooter from a point and click point of view. The reticle can cover multiple targets as it passes over them with the fire button held down. The targets, power ups, hidden areas you are after are varied and move in a rhythmic pattern that you can intuitively pick up as you proceed through the game. There are hidden "power ups" through out the game that can "evolve" your character, upgrade weapons (of a sort), or unlock hidden areas within the game. Scores are based on percentages of level completion with regard to the numbers of enemies hit and destroyed. The music encountered during game play is rhythmic and has the screen pulsing to it to match your capabilities along with the controller; and/or harness if you want the full effect. Just as a side note, the harness option you can still find to go with the game will put you through quite a lot once you get absorbed into the game for several hours so watch out for it! The "evolution" of your character is an odd progression from a simple stick figure through the wire framed lotus position to a odd amorphous globe. Each phase of your evolution changes your abilities when it comes to displaying your firing capabilities into a ever more evolving complex firing solution to your targets. You even get a upgrade that automatically lets you lock onto the maximum number of targets without covering them with your targeting reticle and destroy all of the enemies for a short period of time. There are even different game play types to go through for the game so you will not lose progress you have already obtained during game play. Levels can be played through and repeated as many times as you like until you are in the games groove and ready to rip into the enemies you will encounter for the high score of your lifetime. The game has it's draw backs as all games do requiring the player to reach a end point of a level to save the game at that point. Once you are drawn into the game you will not be able to stop playing it. Time will pass at a different rate and you will be drawn into the world of REZ.
