A nice light-hearted strategy RPG with good humor

I just recently picked this game up having played most of NIS' other SRPGS and I have to say, I was expecting it to be really bad due to it's age.

However, it proved to be better than I expected. The storyline was very light-hearted and actually pretty good, despite being short and simple.

The graphics of the game were cutesy, as I expected from an Atlus/NIS game. They reminded me of the the other SRPGS by them in many ways.

The music wasn't bad either, even though the singing was pretty cheesy.

The gameplay is where the game lacks though. There's a lot of fetching to do and it gets very repetitive, expecially since the game has you visiting the same places over and over again. The fact that most of the places are very similar if not identical adds to that effect. Many times I found myself lost because the dungeons (or towers or whatever) have so many different paths to take and they all look alike. And, to make matters worse, there's no map when you're in those dungeons! What's more frustrating is many times throughout the story I was confused regarding where to venture to next because the cutscenes end kind of abruptly, having you guessing at where to go.

The battles were another problem I found with this game. They were simply too easy. Even on hard difficulty I was able to destroy most monsters with one hit. This made the game easy as pie and provided no challenge other than patience for repetition. I was able to breeze through the game in 9 hours, making it a really short game. In the end, however, I was slaughtered by the last few bosses and had no way of reviving my characters, which was annoying.

Anyways, to sum it all up, Rhapsody's a good game to play mainly if you're a fan of NIS and their other SRPGS. Some of the secret characters from other games are from this one, so it's interesting to know the backstory. It won't provide much of a challenge, but it'll keep you occupied for a while.
