A very ambitious action adventure, Argonauts has all the elements of an epic game, but lacks polish.

User Rating: 6.5 | Rise of the Argonauts PC
Argonauts is one of those games that has so much potential -- an epic, classic story; very solid and detailed visuals; multiple well-mixed game elements to bring variety and unique gameplay. However, it really feels like a classic business driven game development effort -- it feels rushed, underproduced, and very rough around the edges.

The good:
* Epic story and some (potentially) interesting characters
* Generally well-done, detailed 3d visuals
* Good variety in gameplay elements, mixing action, adventuring, and a bit of puzzle solving.
* Generally epic feel

The bad:
* Horrid voice over work
* Combat with hordes of identical enemies, but despite a seemingly interesting selection of weapons and some tactical options, descends into a clickfest.
* Bizarre, jerky and wild camera actions that occur during combat
* Too many directly repeated 3d models in the non-player characters
* Useless NPC character interaction in the adventure sequences, with conversation trees that make the purpose of selecting dialog options meaningless because you always simply work through all the options -- there's no sense of control of the story or interactions
* Bad mapping and subquesting system

Again, I wanted to like this game, but it just felt like it was a good 10 months and a few more developers/writers/artists short of being a fully-produced product.
