If you like a great story done with good voice acting, look no further. If you expect all hack and slash.. pass it up.

I read about this game long ago and thought it sounded very interesting.. I liked that the new weapons and armor you'd receive were supposed to mean something, and not just +1 better at this stat and -1 to another, etc. You were going on an epic journey. Of course the naysayers and powergamers alike just want to complain that they NEED to see the numbers to decide if a weapon is better, or a new armor is worth switching to.

I like this unknown aspect. Read the lore of the item, what it is supposed to do(sometimes very simply boosts a skill of Jason or makes him less vulnerable to something, etc). It keeps you in the confines of the game and makes it all the more immersive.

If you have read any of my reviews, you will find that I am a sucker for immersion. This game has full voice acting, great visuals, and a very intriguing story(rooted firmly in Greek Mythology). The fighting is gratifying, if not fairly just a button mashing contest. I LOVE the way you get new skills by dedicating basically quest completions and mini-achievements(killing a certain amount of monsters, poking through all the optional dialogue to get the full story, talking to all the NPC's).

Don't get me wrong.. If you just want to go around smashing things, this isn't for you. It is easily 75% talking to NPC's in static dialogue choices(that do actually mean something in that they give you more favor towards the god aligned to the choice). I was just enthralled with the epic storytelling involved here.

Give it a try.. Make it to one of the Islands you can choose to do(in any order) and see if holds your attention span. I know I loved it!
