Was the purpose of this game to proof that there can be bad fighting games too?

User Rating: 2 | Rise of the Robots SNES
With games such as Street Fighter II Turbo and Mortal Kombat II, why would any software company release such a terrible game?!
I don’t have an answer, but I can tell you why this game deserves my rating:

Let’s start off with the horrible game-play. Street Fighter showed how to do it right. Just take the opposite of the fun you can have with Street Fighter and apply it to Rise of the Robots.
The controls feel imprecisely and unbalanced. Not that they are very important with the kind of fighting style presented here: Boring fights again and again, the fighters just don’t have charisma or any special feeling to them.

The graphics are the best thing about this game and saves it from a 1.x rating. However, it still doesn’t look very detailed. The games doesn’t just feel boring, it also looks that way.

The tunes of this game stands not a chance against the classic melodies from Street Fighter or the atmospheric music in Mortal Kombat. There’s just nothing special about the music in this game.

There’s only a few list of fighters to select from. But there’s basically no real difference between their fighting styles and animations. The poor controls also make the game hard to beat.

This Beat’em Up couldn’t even rudimentary stand up to its hype and was nothing but a real disappointment.
