A perfect sequal to Myst
Myst revolutionized the puzzle adventure genre and Riven is able to capitalize upon that. With exciting puzzles, an intuitive story and beautifully engineered ages, this game is truly the "Sequel to Myst".
After saving Atrus from his sons, you must journey again into the ages. With little time to explain Atrus sends you forth to the fifth age, Riven. The story is slow, with little action, but that's what I like about it. From island to island you must respect detail and concentrate on what it has to offer. The ages themselves are breathtaking. From whizzing along in a mag-lev tram car to standing above an entire village built on a cliff, there is much to see.
Unfortunately at time it's a bit hard to figure what exactly you are supposed to do... beyond that, they game is seamless.
Also, the puzzels presented are relatively easy to understand, and many require logical thought. Throughout your journey you must decode an entire number system, map the islands, and break the fissure that Atrus had fallen down once before...
Again, Riven did very well continuing Myst. Above all, there is just so much to see and understand about Riven and its connecting ages.
