Vehicular murder, upgraded.

User Rating: 7 | RoadBlasters GEN
RoadBlasters was a car combat game originally released for 8-bit systems. But being the hit it was, the developers decided to cash in on the 16-bit consoles and re-release the game with updated graphics. Not a bad idea. I wish they would do that more often, actually. RoadBlasters was a fairly long, hard game. The object of the game is beautiful in it's simplicity. You take part in a road race. And if you can't out-race your opponents, you blast the hell out of them and send them to their fiery deaths. Hence the name "RoadBlasters". There are a few things added in to the game to spice thingsl up, like gun turrets placed at the side of the road (because what race is complete without a little hostile gunfire) and mines on the road. The graphics are obviously better on the Genesis than on the consoles & computers that pre-dated it. But there's still the standard backdrop of a city or whatever environment you're in, which you never actually get any closer to. But who cares, it's still pretty fun.
