Roadblasters is an excellent arcade-style driving game!

Like a lot of home console racing games from the early nineties', 1991's Roadblasters for the Sega Genesis was originally a title released in the arcades. Roadblasters was subsequently ported to numerous consoles, but at the time of writing this review, the Sega Genesis version is the only one I've ever played. I'll definitely be checking out some other versions of Roadblasters in the near future, because this game is a hell of a lot of fun.

What you have here is a pretty typical arcade-style, 16-bit racing game where you shoot other cars and try to reach the end of the map without running out of fuel. It's a simple enough concept, but the game gets quite challenging after round 8 or 9. Lots of obstacles will get in your way, and avoiding crashing can be quite tough. Roadblasters is a ton of fun, and although the controls feel a bit 'clunky' at times, this is a fantastic driving game for the Sega Genesis. It's aged exceptionally well, and this game is still extremely fun and playable over twenty years after its creation. If you can find the game cartridge for a good price, Roadblasters is worth your attention if you like old-school driving games.
