Robotech: Battlecry Positives: Graphics - Really looks like an updated version of the cartoon. Immersion - Really captures the Robotech feel and sound effects. Gameplay - Good 3D shooter with a bit of old-school feel. Missions - Tons of missions, though some are repetitive in nature Unlockables - Some cool unlockables including video interviews with the original voice actors! Negatives: Sound - The sound mix is not very good. The sound of gunfire is WAY too loud in the mix. The entire mix is not very rich and there is no surround support, just mono and stero but even the stereo mix doesn't sound much better than the monaural one. Difficulty - Several missions just seem overly difficult and the objectives are not very clear sometimes, which can cause a quick and sudden end to the mission requiring a restart several times until you discover exactly what it is you need to do. This occurrs even on the EASY setting. Gameplay - You're allowed to select the type of Veritech used which allows for consideration of armour amount, speed, maneuverability, etc., but that's only before you actually know what your mission will be. Mission brief should come first. Also, the turning rate of you Veritech is slow and wide making it overly difficult to sometimes see and line-up targets. Overall I have to say I really like this game. It can be great fun, looks great, has good replay value as well as 2-player ability, and does a good job at recreating the Robotech experience.
